Houston has a reputation: a reputation for great opportunities, that is, and on September 28th, you will have the great opportunity to get your copy of Mud and Money: A Timeline of Houston History signed by author, Mike Vance, in the heart of the city that inspired it.
Why did you come to Houston? Why did you choose to stay? In Mud and Money, Mike Vance wonders the same thing. Going all the way back to the city’s inception on the banks of the White Oak and Buffalo Bayous in 1836, the timeline of the book marches through the pages of Houston’s past with photographs and stories in an effort to find the answer. Vance believes that what really makes this town tick is the colorful culture incubated by the continual influx of citizens from every corner of the earth.
At the River Oaks Bookstore from 3:00- 5:00 pm this Saturday, citizens get the chance to come together and discuss the people, places, and stories that are compose Houston’s legacy. Mike Vance will be there signing copies and talking a little about his inspiration behind his Mud & Money vision. He’ll be sharing about how he found the stories he details in his book, the kinds of people he interacted with along the way, his reason for choosing the Bayou City, and all the other ins and outs of his creative process.
